Check who will be working on your home

Rules and credential requirements can change, and the exact requirement depends on the work. Before routing live requests, this guide will recheck primary Texas sources and document each provider's current status.

Ask for current evidence

Ask for the business name and the credentials the provider says apply to the work. Check them through an official source, then make sure the name matches the estimate.

Ask who will arrive

Find out whether the provider uses subcontractors and who handles the estimate and completion paperwork. Ask for proof of insurance that covers the proposed work.

Keep a written record

Keep the estimate, payment terms, and any measurements or completion notes. If the work changes, get that change in writing too. Important promises belong in the paperwork.
